You are one of the -still- few voices that talk about this. Slowly, shyly, more voices will rise to join yours.

Thank you for talking about this. I’ve been in a very similar and waking up to the abuse of childhood is one thing. Having to protect yourself from the people who should’ve loved you more then anything, is a whole different heartbreak.

I’m sure you’re helping many people with this. Their abuse is no reflection of our lovability and worth. Never.

Yes, somehow the pattern is similar for many people.

Was also surprised when I read about other people's stories of how close they were to mine.

Luckily also the same strategies work to get out of this.

Thank you for the feedback.

Yes, now I can write about it after I gained a lot of distance and understood the dynamics of my family system quite a bit. Hope it helps some people who are going through similar things now. Single stories often don't look so bad. But that changes when you see more of the picture.

Will reveal more in the next chapters. So the storyline is a bit of how I became aware of what really happened in my childhood. At the point of this chapter I did not really know yet.

Not only it helps people who are going through this now. It gives more strength to those who have already been through this...because whoever reads it knows that he/she is not alone. Neither are you, the writer. :-)

Yes, I am also not alone. Read several stories and always wondered why the family scapegoat topic is not more present. So much stuff out there about narcissism... but scapegoat which is related... not so much.

the mental health community have had a hard time accepting this concept, as has our cultural, religious conditioning and really lack of trauma informed training for therapists. I too resonate with your story big time!
