Why Having the Right Mindset Matters Less Than We Have Been Led to Believe

For a long time, I thought I just needed to figure out life to live it finally. First the work, then the reward, so to speak. As if life itself was something that needed to be earned before I deserved its sweeter fruits.

Of course, I tried to speed up the process. And while trying this, I kept stumbling upon the right mindset thing again and again. It came in so many different forms.

The simpler one was that you just need to be positive, and then everything will be possible. That was already a problem for me. I will come back to it later.

Affirmations and, in particular, the Law of Attraction were more complex approaches. You needed to be positive here as well. Additionally, you really needed to believe that things would actually manifest. And if things didn’t work out, you apparently didn’t believe strongly enough.

I have always been a doubtful and very self-critical person. So the above didn’t really work for me.

My mindset was that thinking things through and working hard would improve my little world. That’s at least how I made it through university and my first years in corporate life.

For quite a while, that mindset worked. And that’s maybe why it was so hard to see the trap for what it was.

Now I understand that the right mindset often comes after we have started changing our lives, not before.

So does that mean we can forget about this mindset thing completely?

Of course not.

The point I want to make is much simpler. Let me explain...
